INTERNATIONALISM

Buzz Me

International is something to do with two or more countries. United Nation Organization is an international one. There is an International Court of Justice at The Hague. So internationalism is the noun from of international. The question is whether nationalism and internationalism are compatible with each other. The love of ones owns country does not demand the hatred of them. So nationalism can help international peace and understanding.

Some is a Tamil Ian as he was born in Tamil Nadu. As Tamil Nadu is a part of India some is an Indian too. At the same time he belongs to the world or universe. So he is the citizen of the world. At the down of modern age nationalism began to make its headway. Nationalism gave people a new science, new sense of unity and a new source of inspiration for advancing culture, civilization and knowledge.

United Nation Organization was formed to inculcate internationalism in the mind of the world. Internationalism has got a very long history. It is now known to people, but internationalism was absolutely essential if humanity was to exist in the world. So various attempts in various forms have been made to inculcate internationalism in the minds of people.

According to Mahatma Gandhi unless internationalism is put on a moral and spiritual basis and is implanted in the hearts of men directly through social and educational channels, it will remain flimsy and fragile.

A multinational company

Buzz Me

A multinational company means a business company which operates in more than one country. It may be said a company functions in several countries or nations. That means that company has factories, branches etc., in more than one country.

As per the united nations commission on multinational company or multinational corporation it is corporation which operates to the country in which it is incorporated in one of more other countries. It is also known as transnational corporation (via) global giant or world enterprise. So those business organizations that transcend political frontiers may be called a multinational firm.

As per Neil H Jacobi “A multinational corporation runs and manages business in two or more countries. So it will be generally very in size. Its purpose is to reduce transport costs and to make use of new materials, labor, capital and market of foreign countries. There are about 600 MNC’s operating in the world today. The multinationals based in the USA, has the largest share of foreign direct investment. In underdeveloped countries the investment and employment created by the MNC’s have been chiefly concentrated in about a dozen nations.

Dentist for the extraction of a bad tooth

Buzz Me

Spoons and forks are eaters’ handy tools at the table. To us, Indians, (except on rare occasions or in dazzling roof-top restaurants) eating is mostly a hand-to-mouth affair. Spoon-feeding is for infants and the bed-ridden. A teen-aged boy was taken to a dentist for the extraction of a bad tooth. The dentist asked the boy if he had attempted to bite or chew with the teeth. Gone are those days when children sucked the juice from the sugarcane by tearing the thick skin and biting off the core of the stem. Spoon and fork and the effortless gulping of food have reduced man to a toothless animal. This is only a sample of what ‘sophistication’ or the so-called ‘decent living’ is doing to the majority of young people. Hence the term ‘spoon-feeding’ stands for man’s increasing dependence on outside agencies for making his life easy and comfortable.

Let us examine some aspects of spoon-feeding. In most families, school-going boys and girls hardly make any effort to do things for themselves. They do not eat; they are spoon-fed. They do not dress themselves; they are dressed up. Parents guide their steps to the van or vehicle. Even in schools, learning is not activity-based. Another disturbing fact is that very little time is available for the youngsters to give free play to their limbs in grounds. They do not play games; they sit for hours before the computers-screen to watch games. They do not write letters; instead they ‘chat’ through the ‘net’. Such dependence on gadgets has given rise to the tendency to make life easy. This has resulted in general slackness.

PSYCHOLOGY OF WEEL – BEING

Buzz Me

The people of Chennai very often use these three words “okay, super, tension”. Tension exists because the present lifestyle adversely affects our mind-racing against time, feeling insecure, quest for identity, rivalry, stiff competitions. Even trivial things concerning ‘Status’, ‘ability’, ‘beauty’, ‘knowledge’ all these contribute, to the tension mounting up. If the person behaves in his natural self without posing or being hypocritical, without getting annoyed over any problem and taking everything easy, he will be free from anxieties, cares and worries. The golden rule is to forget and forgive the person who has done harm to you. Revenge is a wild form of justice fit in the world of savages and unfit in the domain of human beings. Tolerance is not a passive virtue but also a positive one freeing your mind from ‘tension’. You also feel inwardly happy that you have risen to be a noble, large hearted man even though the other man may think that you are worthless, incompetent, etc.,.. Of course it is very difficult to cultivate the habit of no vengeance but if practiced you can acquire it gradually. Realize that the whole world itself is a tiny dot in the map of the whole universe the sun, the moon, planets and the stars. Einstein was so humble in spite of his marvelous achievements in Physics. He did not feel flattered when a stream of visitors praised him for his invention.

WHAT AILS OUR SOCIETY MOST

Buzz Me

If at all most of us are totally apathetic to one most disturbing trend in the contemporary society, it is the evil of corruption. The fact that we have not been able to check corruption in the past sixty years is a blot on our society which culminates in our country’s earning the sobriquet, ‘corrupt society’. The perpetrators of corrupt practices are found at all levels in our society, ranging from a peon to highly paid official. To combat corruption a revolution is necessary to change the mindset which takes for granted that bribe giving and bribe taking are a part of the global phenomenon.
By and large, the people witness the guilty backed by position, money and muscle power escape punishment while the process of law is delayed inordinately. It is also known to the public that the number of corrupt thriving and prospering is increasing every year. We all know that its clout is enormous and far reaching. The agony of the common man is perceptible, but he is helpless. Non-beneficiaries of corruption are turning passive spectators while that corrupt segment of our population, at least 60% of the politicians loot public money, stash their ill gotten amount in Swiss banks or invest it in various purchases through their “benamis”.
Glaring ostentatious spending at the time of marriages or wearing costly dresses or owning posh houses etc., by middle class corrupt officers can’t escape the notice of suffering ordinary man. The Supreme Court last year outlined some remedial measures with regard to revamping police administration. It has condemned the unhealthy and petty political interference in the administration. It has also insisted on restoring autonomy to the police, which many commissions recommended earlier. No law has been enacted so far enabling to act independently. Both the police and the political class benefit by maintaining the status quo. Even today visit any police station and you will not miss the presence of local leaders of political parties who command much respect there.

INACTIVITY

Buzz Me

Modern man’s voracity for comfortable living has crippled his limbs. Modern inventions are responsible for the present generation’s reduced physical activity. At present we get into a train or make use of 2, 3 or 4 wheelers to reach work places. Washing machines, mixies, grinders and similar appliances make us lethargic. We don’t use time and energy saved by machines for our physical activities, while a man of the past age did a lot of physical domestic work and mostly reached offices on foot. Also he had to toil in work places and walked home in the evening. They were very healthy. The sedentary styles of living and physical inactivity in the present have produced more and more obese persons and others afflicted with all sorts of health problems. The intake of fat containing food has increased to an alarming level. Overweight is the immediate effect of physical inactivity that 20% op youngsters face today. Doctors have set an index to measure obesity.
Youngsters of today seem to eat junk food, munch a lot of chocolates, chips and gulps more rum \ whisky/ brandy down their throats leading to heart problems. As per World Health Organization recent finding that in India by 2025 those dying of heart attacks will be around 26 lakhs, especially in the age group 30 to 69 years. Vice Chancellor Meer mustsfa Hussein is of the opinion that the death rate can be reduced considerably if only the youth abstain from over-drinking, over eating and physical inactivity in particular.
